Board Care
Cleaning
- Hand wash only with warm water on all sides.
- Do not soak or put in the dishwasher.
- Dry immediately and stand on edge to allow full air circulation.
- Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive scrubbing pads, which can damage the wood.
Reconditioning
- Apply food-safe cutting board oil with a soft, lint-free cloth as needed.
- When water no longer beads on the surface, it’s time to re-oil.
- For extra protection, apply a thin layer of natural cutting board wax after oiling.
Refreshing the Surface
- Boards may develop scratches or rough spots from regular use.
- Lightly sand with 400-grit sandpaper, then recondition with oil to restore a smooth, polished surface.
- Avoid cutting on the board with serrated knives repeatedly in the same spot to reduce deep grooves.
Additional Tips for Longevity
- Store boards away from direct sunlight or heat sources to prevent warping.
- Do not leave wet items or acidic foods (like lemon or tomato) on the board for extended periods.
- Occasionally, rub a small amount of mineral oil along the edges to prevent drying or cracking.
